Drone images reveal the devastation of the Baling flood

ALOR SETAR: As the flooding in Baling enters its fourth day, the devastation caused by the disaster can be seen in The Star's drone images.

The impact the July 4 flood had on the 12 villages in Kupang sub-district can clearly be seen from high up.

A group of villagers brought the team from The Star to the foothills of Gunung Inas to show how the flood had not only jeopardised their livelihoods, but their lives as well.

The victims faced a panoply of troubles, from loss of property and displacement, to the destruction of crops and loss of livestock. Almost all the villages in the affected area were severely impacted by the water surge.

The floods claimed the lives of three people, destroyed seven houses and severely damaged another 70.

So far, over 1,400 residents have been evacuated from the area.
