25-year-old mum facing Twitter porn pix charge


KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old mother has claimed trial in the Sessions Court to the improper use of network facilities by uploading pornographic pictures on her Twitter account.

Amira Nur Afiqah Agus Salim, who works as an operator with a hotel company, pleaded not guilty before judge Norhasniah Abdul Razak.

Amira, who has a child, was charged with knowingly making and initiating the transmission of obscene communication, namely pornographic pictures, with the intention of offending others through the Twitter account “@amiranafqh” on Sept 19, 2021.

The posting was seen in a premises at Sri Tioman 2, Jalan Melati here, on the same day.

According to Bernama, she was charged under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

If convicted she faces a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment for up to one year or both, and a further fine of RM1,000 for each day the offence is continued after conviction.

The court set bail at RM3,000 in one surety and ordered her to report to the nearest police station once a month. The case has been fix for mention on Aug 9.

Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission prosecuting officer Nur Nazhzilah Mohamad Hashim handled the case, while Amira was represented by Adly Zulfadhly Zulkefly.
