KUALA LUMPUR: A shop assistant has been arrested for the murder of a foreign labourer here.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 22-year-old suspect, also a foreigner, was nabbed in Taman Keramat here on Friday night following a tip-off.

He said the body of the 37-year-old victim was found lying on the road with injuries and stab wounds in the chest, reported Bernama.

“We seized a knife which we suspect to be the murder weapon.

“The victim’s body was sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for autopsy,” he said in a statement yesterday, and pointed out that both the victim and suspect carried valid travel documents.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
