Selangor cops seize 142kg of ganja, biggest haul of the year so far

PETALING JAYA: The biggest ganja haul of the year by the state police contingent saw 142kg seized, and three suspected drug dealers arrested.

Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Ahmad Jefferi Abdullah said, at a press conference Tuesday (June 7) at the state contingent headquarters, that the raid was conducted on May 31.

“Three men aged between 23 and 49 years old were caught at a supermarket carpark in Bangsar at 2pm. We seized 145 packages of suspected ganja, weighing 142.1kg.

“The value of the drugs seized has been estimated to be around RM355,250. All suspects have been remanded until today and we are awaiting the next orders from the DPP,” he said.

The drugs, he added, were believed to be of the highest grade, based on the gold packaging it was packed in.

He said that the raid was conducted as the suspects were unloading their cars.

Two of the three suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and THC.

“Investigations are underway to determine the exact destination of the drugs, but we believe it would have gone through a few more transactions,” he said.
