KUALA LUMPUR: Former Armed Forces chief Jen (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali has been conferred the Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM) by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. It carries the title “Tun”.
Mohamed Hashim, 87, led the list of recipients of federal awards, honours and medals for 2022 in conjunction with the King’s official birthday at Istana Negara yesterday.
Meanwhile, former international trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan is among 18 individuals who received the Darjah Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM), which carries the title “Tan Sri”.
Others on the same list include former land and cooperative development minister and former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Osu Sukam; former health minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam; former higher education minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh; Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh; and former Pahang mentri besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also conferred the Darjah Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) that carries the title “Datuk” on 23 individuals, among whom is former national badminton player Foo Kok Keong.
Present at the investiture ceremony were Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his wife Datin Seri Muhaini Zainal Abidin.
The ceremony is one of six events lined up in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of Sultan Abdullah. All the events are scheduled to take place from June 2 to 10.
A total of 1,021 individuals will be conferred federal awards, honours and medals in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s official birthday this year.
The King was accorded the Royal Salute and the national anthem was performed by the Royal Malay Regiment Central Band before the official flag of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was raised along with a 21-gun salute.
His Majesty then inspected the Guard of Honour, after which he was accorded the second Royal Salute and the national anthem was played. — Bernama
