King graces birthday awards investiture ceremony


KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah graced the investiture ceremony of Federal Territories awards, medals, and honours at the Istana Negara here on Monday (June 6).

Also present at the ceremony, held in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday celebration, was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

The arrival of Their Majesties at Istana Negara was received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his wife, Datin Seri Muhaini Zainal Abidin, who then escorted the King and Queen to the Royal Dais.

Once Their Majesties were on the Royal Dais, Al-Sultan Abdullah was accorded the Royal Salute and the national anthem was played by the Royal Malay Regiment Central Band before the official flag of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was raised along with a 21-gun salute.

Al-Sultan Abdullah then inspected the Guard of Honour and once completed, His Majesty was accorded the second Royal Salute and the national anthem was played.

Their Majesties then alighted from the Royal Dais and entered Sri Maharaja Hall for the investiture ceremony.

The ceremony is one of six events lined up in conjunction with the official birthday celebration of His Majesty. All the events are scheduled to take place from June 2 to 10.

A total of 1,021 individuals will be conferred federal awards, honours and medals in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s official birthday this year. - Bernama
