GOF Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Mohd Razali Melin said six people were arrested, including a woman and the Singaporean mastermind of the operation.

He said the suspects were arrested during raids on two separate locations at 9.30am on Saturday (June 4).

"The raids were conducted on houses on Jalan Anak Bukit 1 and Jalan Anak Bukit 2, Senai.

"We found 1,806 cans of beer, 499 bottles of untaxed liquor, cash worth RM102,600 and 50 cartons of cigarettes stored inside the house and vehicles.

"In the second house, we found 9,960 beer cans, 1,110 bottles of untaxed liquor and 200 cartons of cigarettes," he said in a statement here on Sunday (June 5).

He added that GOF had also confiscated eight vehicles.

The illicit cigarettes, liquor, and beers alone are worth RM704,370.

The suspects involved are three local men aged between 28 and 31, two Myanmar nationals comprising a man aged 31 and a woman aged 33 as well and a 60-year-old Singaporean man.

"Our investigations revealed that the syndicate is known as 'Kenny' and has been operating for more than four years.

"The syndicate has been busted a few times before and is still active in smuggling cases," he said, adding that the 60-year-old man was the mastermind of the group.

Supt Mohd Razali also said the illicit cigarettes and liquor were meant to be sold in Kulai and Johor Baru.
