Body of murder victim identified by her brother

IPOH: A 19-year-old youth has come forward to identify the burnt body of a woman found at a riverbank in Kuala Kangsar as that of his elder sister.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said he identified the body of his 21-year-old sister who had gone missing since Tuesday (May 31).

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said he had come to lodge a missing report at the police station on Wednesday (June 1).

"He identified his sister based on the slippers, hair clip and a nose stud she had on.

"We will be taking a DNA sample of the deceased's father for matching, and her dental samples will be matched with her records, as the brother said she had carried out dental examinations at the Kuala Kangsar Dental clinic before," he said in a statement.

Earlier, Comm Mior Faridalathrash had said that a burnt body of a woman was found at 3pm on the riverbank of a river near Kampung Talang Hulu.

From their initial observation, police suspected that the victim was murdered, and later burnt 24 hours prior to the discovery of the body.

He added there were wounds spotted on the left side of the victim’s head.

"Also a piece of concrete with blood traces was found near the body. It is believed to be the weapon used to hit the deceased's head.

"Experts will carry out examinations, and check on dental records to confirm the identity.

"We will also try to get the fingerprints reports soonest," he added.

He said the body was discovered by the members of the public who contacted the public and it has been sent to the Kuala Kangsar hospital for a post-mortem.
