Cops searching for aggressive biker caught on dashcam

SEREMBAN: Police are looking for a suspect after a dashcam recording showing a motorcyclist behaving in a threatening manner along Jalan Temiang-Pantai near here went viral.

Seremban district police chief Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said the suspect would also be investigated for being a public nuisance to road users in the 11 second video.

He said the incident was believed to have taken place around noon on Sunday (May 29).

"Based on a preliminary investigation, a group of motorcyclists had stopped and parked their motorcycles along the emergency lane of the stretch and one individual can be seen threatening to throw an object at the vehicle, from which the recording was being made," he said in a statement.

ACP Nanda said the case was being investigated under Section 48(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing an obstruction by parking a vehicle on the road.

Offenders could be fined between RM1,000 and RM5,000 or jailed not less than one year or both upon conviction.

The individual was also being investigated under Section 268(1) of the Penal Code for being a public nuisance and upon conviction, could be fined not more than RM400.

He said anyone with information on the case can contact Insp Fadzilah at 016-289 5801.

When contacted by mStar, a man who claimed to have uploaded the clip on social media said he was heading to Jelebu when the incident happened.

The man, who is in his 30s, said he was seated in the front passenger seat and his wife was driving. Their two children were seated behind.

"As we approached the group, I asked my wife to honk as the man was standing in the way and this was dangerous for both him and other road users.

"It was not our intention to upset or to pick a fight with him. It was just to let him know that it was dangerous for him to be standing there," he said, adding that he was shocked by the manner the man retaliated.

The man said he decided against stopping as he was worried for the safety of his family.

He decided to share the video to remind the people to be careful when using the stretch.

"The stretch is neither a recreational spot nor an open house. If you want to take photographs, please stop at a suitable and safe location," he added.
