Decathlon: Making the pleasure and benefits of sports more accessible in Malaysia

Communities of sports lovers are at the heart of Decathlon’s mission; to sustainably make the pleasure and benefits of sports accessible to the many.

THERE is no stopping Decathlon Malaysia as it lands another perfect drop shot with its second one-of-its-kind unique sports experience centre, hot off the heels of its first experience concept store - Decathlon KL City Centre that opened its doors earlier this month.

Set to officially open its doors on May 28, sports enthusiasts can gear up and get ready for Decathlon Puchong that promises customers and users a special treat that is unlike other Decathlon stores nationwide.

Filled with over 5,000 exclusive products covering more than 60 sports, Decathlon Puchong will also be home to a Badminton World Federation approved court and two fitness studios that are set to impress. The badminton facility was incorporated with the hopes of discovering promising badminton players of tomorrow with Protech team. With badminton being one of the favourite sports in Malaysia, Decathlon Malaysia had the foresight to offer a fully equipped badminton facility to hone talents and to get beginners on the right track.

Decathlon is aiming at offering the best offer of badminton products through the combination of Decathlon Perfly, Protech, and highly knowledgeable and passionate teammates welcoming and advising all badminton players.

As for the fitness studios partnered with Believe Fitness, the partnership stems from their belief in creating an active and healthy community. It will be the first hybrid concept group exercise by Believe Fitness offering signature classes, Zumba and also yoga. Customers and users can choose their fitness goals and it is all about bringing their game to enjoy a good sweat. Would you like to book a class? You can do it on Play by Decathlon.

It is Decathlon Malaysia’s mission to make the pleasure and benefits of sports accessible to all and with this court conveniently placed in its store, it will be able to fulfill the needs of players of all ages and levels.

For customers and users who are interested to experience the badminton court and the two Decastudios, they can easily join MY Decathlon Club and do their booking via www.play.decathlon.my/activities for a slot.

Similar to the flagship store Decathlon KL City Centre, this brand-new outlet features quality sports products, where some are made and designed in Malaysia for all sports lovers.

Decathlon Malaysia strongly believes in sustainability and always strives to put the local sports community first. This is evident in its new store concept, where Decathlon Malaysia aims to sustainably make the pleasure and benefits of sports accessible to many.

“Following our huge and overwhelming success from our first ever disruptive business model in Kuala Lumpur, we are more eager than ever to welcome all of you to our second unique sport experience centre here in Puchong.

“Judging by how well received the experience is in Decathlon KL City Centre, we are confident that Decathlon Puchong will equally be as impressive and engaging for all.

“Our goal is to make sports available for everyone and we want to do so by adapting our business model exclusively to Malaysia for all sports lovers.

“We want to understand and showcase how Malaysians experience and live their favourite sports, hence this very bespoke business model has been adapted to suit the local sport market,” said Arnaud Sauret, chief executive officer of Decathlon Malaysia.

Sauret explained that the opening of its second unique sport experience Puchong outlet is set to be as impressive and engaging as their Decathlon KL City Centre experience with a goal to make sports available for everyone.Sauret explained that the opening of its second unique sport experience Puchong outlet is set to be as impressive and engaging as their Decathlon KL City Centre experience with a goal to make sports available for everyone.

He added that Decathlon Malaysia takes pride in working hand in hand with Malaysian partners and the community by not only producing quality sports equipment locally but also constantly engaging with local business partners to complete the brand’s range of offers and services.

Decathlon is in Puchong today following the feedback and needs from their customers and users, who always are at the heart of any innovation and improvement for the largest sports retailer in the world.

Equipped with a full-sized badminton court, customers and users are also encouraged to pick up a racket and land a few smashes to see how the grip and hit feels. If that racket does not live up to par, then pick another from Decathlon’s huge array. Test and find the perfect racket on the spot before making the purchase. This holistic experience is one of the many unprecedented sport experiences offered at Decathlon Puchong.

Complete with racket stringing services in-store by Protech, Decathlon has thought of everything badminton enthusiasts may need before, during, and after the game. Three services are proposed on the Badminton Court on Play by Decathlon.

1. Open slots: book the court to play with your friends and family,

2. Community Games: meet new players of your level and play fun games

3. Coaching Session: improve your technique with our badminton coaching team

This new badminton court will become a space for badminton enthusiasts to connect, share experiences and tips with other badminton fanatics.

Aside from this, Decathlon Puchong also aspires to build a sustainable fitness community with Believe Studio, the first hybrid concept group exercise by Believe Fitness. They will provide eight different signature classes along with Zumba and Yoga classes in the two Decastudios.

Additionally, the first 200 sports fanatics who visit Decathlon Puchong on the day of its official opening on May 28 will receive a RM50 voucher to spend on quality sport equipment and gears.

On the same weekend of the store’s official launch, Decathlon will be organising a fun 5km community run at Taman Wawasan Puchong Park, featuring different pace groups to suit all runners. Kicking off as early as 8.30am, runners of all ages are welcome to participate in this fun and friendly run.

Pre-registration is required, so those interested in the run can register here.
