Covid-19 Watch: 32.2% of five to 11-year-olds in Malaysia fully vaccinated


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,142,104 children aged from five to 11 years old, or 32.2% of the cohort in the country, have completed their vaccinations under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) as of Thursday (May 27).

Based on the Health Ministry's CovidNow portal, a total of 1,693,589 children in the age group, or 47.7% of the total, have received at least one dose of a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine.

For adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years old, a total of 2,911,511, or 93.6% of the group, have completed their vaccinations, while 3,008,137, or 96.7%, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

As for the adult population, some 16,090,222 individuals or 68.4% of the population in the country have received booster doses, while 22,973,842 individuals (97.6%) have completed both doses of the vaccine and 23,250,188 individuals (98.8%) have been given at least one dose of a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, a total of 13,331 doses of the vaccine were dispensed, with 3,050 of them as second doses, 4,172 as second jabs and 6,109 as booster shots, bringing the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 70,855,556.

Meanwhile, the Health Minstry’s GitHub data repository reported three deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday, with two in Johor and one in Perak. - Bernama
