Zuraida's application to join PBM still being processed, says sec-gen

PETALING JAYA: Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin's application to join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) will still have to go through the relevant channels, says Nor Hizwan Ahmad.

The party secretary-general confirmed that it received the application from Zuraida on Thursday (May 26).

"This application will go through the relevant processes including discussions with the supreme council and the results will be notified shortly thereafter," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Earlier, Zuraida, who is also the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, announced that she had left Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and would join PBM.

"God-willing, I will meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob soonest to discuss my resignation as minister," she said in a press statement.

Nor Hizwan also welcomed the application made by Zuraida.

"This further strengthens our confidence that the multiracial party's six core pillars continue to be well received by those from various levels in the country and further boosts our spirit to continue working hard for Bangsa Malaysia," he said.
