One-year extension for interim teachers appointed in 2019, says Education Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Interim teachers appointed in 2019 will have their contracts extended by a year.

The Education Ministry said the extension was to enable the arrangement of interviews and permanent appointments for teachers who have qualified for the terms by the Education Service Commission (SPP).

“Interim teachers who were appointed before 2019 must also ensure SPP’s terms of appointment are met to enable certification by the ministry before it is submitted to the SPP to arrange interviews and permanent appointments,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday (May 26).
