IPOH: Perak targets to welcome six million domestic travellers this year, says Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi.
The Perak tourism committee chairman said having had nearly five million domestic tourists for 2021, the state has raised its target for more visitors this year.
"I think we had about 4.8 million (domestic tourists) last year.
"Perak has always been in the top three choices of domestic tourists and we will continue to push for domestic travels as the main choice rather than outbound," she said in a press conference after opening the Perak Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair at the Ipoh Convention Centre here on Saturday (May 21).
"We will continue to empower more tourism initiatives to help the industry players which had been greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic," she said.
Present during the opening were Perak MATTA chairman Chong Yu Ken, MATTA president Datuk Tan Kok Liang and Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa.
