KLANG: Captain V. Siva Kumar is the new Selangor Maritime director.
He takes over from Captain Mohammad Rosli Kassim who has been appointed Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Intelligence director.
The handing over of duties ceremony, which was held at the Selangor Maritime Headquarters on Wednesday (May 18), was witnessed by MMEA deputy director-general (logistics) Vice-Admiral Datuk Saiful Lizan Ibrahim.
Saiful Lizan congratulated both Rosli and Siva Kumar on their respective appointments.
"Rosli has served this post for three years and has given his all in ensuring security and peace on the coasts off Selangor.
"From 2018 until April this year, Selangor MMEA has conducted 6,849 checks and 257 arrests at sea," he said in his speech on Wednesday.
He hoped that the legacy of Selangor Maritime's outstanding achievements can be continued in order to achieve its mission and vision.
Meanwhile, Siva Kumar said he would continue curbing maritime crimes off the coasts of Selangor.
"I will work together with my intelligence team in order to monitor all activities at sea," he said.
