Covid-19: Over 26% of children fully vaccinated


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 929,427 children aged between five and 11 years, or 26.2% of the population in that bracket, have completed their vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) as of Sunday (May 8).

According to the CovidNow website, a total of 1,553,175 children or 43.8% of the age group have received at least one dose of vaccine.

For adolescents aged between 12 and 17, a total of 2,897,493 or 93.1% of the group have completed their vaccination, while 2,994,981 (96.2%) have received at least one dose.

Among adults, 16,043,079 (68.2%) of the population have received the booster dose, 22,968,088 (97.6%) are fully vaccinated, and 23,244,086 (98.8%) have been given at least one dose.

On Sunday, a total of 26,584 doses of vaccine were dispensed, comprising 7,266 as the first dose, 17,896 second doses and 1,422 booster doses, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) to 70,416,939.

Meanwhile, according to the Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, a total of four deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded on Sunday, two in Selangor and one each in Kedah and Perak. – Bernama
