KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has penned a heartfelt tribute to his deceased mother in conjunction with Mother’s Day.
In his Facebook post on Sunday (May 8), Hajiji said he misses his mother every day although she passed away many years ago.
“Although ibu (mother) is no longer with me, your love continues to guide this son of yours,” he wrote.
“Although I cannot see you anymore, you remain in my heart with every memory,” Hajiji added.
He thanked his mother for all that she had done, saying that from her, he learnt about love and sacrifice.
He also took the opportunity to wish his wife whom he called “Yang ku” (or my love), and all mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day.
He ended his tribute with a short poem in Malay which reads, "Tak ada sutera yang selembut belaian seorang ibu, tak ada tempat yang senyaman pangkuan seorang ibu, tidak ada hari berlalu tanpa kamu di fikiranku, ibu."
This simply translates to "there is no silk as soft as a mother’s touch. There is no place as comfortable as a mother’s hug, and there is not one day that passes without you in my thoughts, mother".
