4m long python caught hiding in car engine in Ayer Itam

GEORGE TOWN: Chaos reigns when residents spotted a 4m long python slithering in the Ayer Itam neighbourhood.

But fret not, the Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel were called in to the rescue.

Northeast district APM officer Kapt (PA) Muhammad Aizat Abd Ghani said they received a distress call at around 11.50am on Thursday (May 5).

“We were alerted that there was a python in a field near Medan Angsana in the Ayer Itam area.

“When we arrived, the snake had hid itself in the engine of a car parked there.

“Four APM personnel immediately swung into action and managed to capture the snake,” he said when contacted.

He said the reptile is estimated to weigh around 60kg.

“With the help of residents nearby, we managed to complete the operation smoothly and safely,” he said.
