Water supply to 472 areas in Selangor to be restored in stages from May 3 night

PETALING JAYA: The water supply to 472 areas in Selangor affected by odour pollution will return in stages on Tuesday (May 3) night, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a tweet, the Selangor Mentri Besar said checks done at 3.30pm found that the pollution was neutralised several hours after it was detected at dawn.

“The water supply is expected to return in stages beginning Tuesday night and this is the third instance of pollution at the same location this week,” he said.

Earlier, Air Selangor said that 472 areas in Selangor will experience unscheduled water disruptions from 3pm on Tuesday due to odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake.

Air Selangor said the 472 areas affected were namely Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54 areas), Sepang (194 areas), Putrajaya (23 areas) and Kuala Langat (20 areas).

On April 30, odour pollution was also detected at the Air Selangor water pump station, causing another unscheduled water disruption to some parts of the Klang Valley.

The disruption saw 463 areas in Selangor go without water for over 12 hours before being restored the next morning.
