472 areas in Selangor face water cuts due to odour pollution

PETALING JAYA: 472 areas in Selangor will experience unscheduled water disruptions from 3pm on Tuesday (May 3) due to odour pollution at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station intake.

Air Selangor said the 472 areas affected were namely Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54 areas), Sepang (194 areas), Putrajaya (23 areas) and Kuala Langat (20 areas).

“Alternative assistance through water tankers will be mobilised to consumers with priority given to critical premises.

“Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of water distribution among affected consumers,” it said in a statement.

It also advised those in affected areas to store enough water whilst waiting for the supply to fully recover.

Last Saturday (April 30), odour pollution was also detected at the Air Selangor water pump station, causing another unscheduled water disruption to some parts of the Klang Valley.

The disruption saw 463 areas in Selangor go without water for over 12 hours before being restored the next morning.
