Secret nasi kerabu sauce makes it a hit

A NASI KERABU seller in Terengganu has a secret sauce that makes his dishes stand out, according to Sinar Harian.

The secret ingredient for the Nasi Kerabu Along which is sold near the Kampung Banggol Tuan Muda Mosque, in Terengganu, is cooked for three to four hours.

Businessman Mohd Zulhisyam Zukini, 31, said, the sauce is a complement that is mixed with two dishes of choice.

Better known as Along, Mohd Zulhisyam said more than 200 containers of nasi kerabu comprising 15kg of rice, 12 chickens and 50 pieces of squid sold out on the first day of business during Ramadan.

“The sauce is made into a paste for freezing. It is then used when preparing this dish.

“Apart from the sauce, the coconut sambal that I use also entices customers because most of them will usually buy additional coconut sauce and sambal to whet their appetite,” he said.

He explained that his grilled chicken nasi kerabu is sold at RM5, grilled meat nasi kerabu (RM7) and grilled squid nasi kerabu goes for about RM20 to RM26.

“The most popular dish is grilled squid. Although the price for the squid is quite expensive, many people still buy it because the squid is large.

“The squid dish usually runs out in just two hours,” he added.

“All my wife and I can do now is to pray that our child is given medication, ” he said.

In addition to suffering from red rashes on her body and face, Ayra still has a high fever and needs to be closely monitored by a doctor.
