Jakim says will abide by Selangor Sultan's decree

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will abide by the decree issued by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah that the department cannot issue any statement regarding the decisions made by the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI), says the department director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff.

Hakimah said she as MKI’s secretary has noted and would abide by Sultan Sharafuddin’s statement, issued in his capacity as the council’s chairman on Saturday (April 9).
