Bill on smoking ban to be tabled in Parliament in July, says Khairy

SEPANG: The smoking ban Bill - dubbed the Generational Endgame - is currently being finalised and can be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat in July, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

"Insyaallah, it will be tabled in July.

"The Bill is currently being finalised by the Attorney General's Chambers. I think it can be completed next week.

"After that, I will be presenting the Bill to the parliamentary special select committee on health," said Khairy at a press conference here Saturday (March 26).

Khairy added that the smoking ban would also include vape products.

The proposed Generational Endgame law intends to ban smoking for people born from Jan 1, 2005 onwards.

This means that people who turned 18 next year would not be allowed to buy cigarettes or vape products legally.
