Barisan will show its appreciation for the people’s mandate and support, says Wee

KUALA LUMPUR: Appreciation will be shown for the mandate given by the people who have returned to support Barisan Nasional, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Seconding a statement by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the Umno general assembly on Friday (March 18), Dr Wee said however that the coalition cannot become careless and overconfident after its victories in recent state elections.

“What is more important is the 15th General Election.

“I believe Umno will continue to progress in its vision and mission, in the interest of the people and country,” he said on social media while attending the Umno general assembly at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre.

Dr Wee said he was enthralled by Ahmad Zahid’s speech and was happy to join Umno representatives at the assembly.

Barisan Nasional won 40 out of 56 seats in the Johor state assembly in the March 12 polls.

In the Melaka state election on Nov 20, it won 21 out of 28 seats.

Both victories secured a two-thirds majority in the respective state assemblies.
