KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is officially a single political entity, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Sabah Chief Minister said the coalition received their certificate of approval on Friday (March 11).
"The move to register GRS as a single entity came from the supporters, as they wanted to see GRS registered officially," he said.
He however has yet to give further details on this as Umno had previously mentioned that according to their party constitution, they were not allowed to be officially part of another coalition.
Umno is part of the Barisan Nasional coalition.
GRS was made up of Sabah Barisan Nasional (Sabah Umno, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah PBRS, MCA and MIC), Sabah Perikatan (Bersatu Sabah, Sabah STAR, Sabah Progressive Party SAPP, Sabah PAS, and Gerakan) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
Hajiji said now was the time to focus on the people and unity among the party.
He was attending the launching ceremony of former Warisan vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony’s new party Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) on Sunday (March 13).
Peter had once again expressed his wish to join the GRS coalition, to which Hajiji responded 'we welcome this intention', but said he would bring the proposal to other GRS members for discussion.
Representatives from the various parties including SAPP, PBS, Sabah STAR and PBRS also attended the launching ceremony.
