Premier awards to recognise country’s best property developers

KUALA LUMPUR: The International Real Estate Federation Malaysian Chapter (FIABCI Malaysia) and Star Media Group (SMG) are set to launch the inaugural FIABCI Malaysia-Star Malaysia Developer Awards (MDA) tomorrow.

This premier accolade is crafted to be Malaysia’s ultimate awards in giving due recognition to the most well-deserving property developers for their stellar efforts and hard work in building the nation.

The MDA also aims to lend credibility to developers, serving as a trusted gauge for consumers to make informed decisions when buying or investing in properties or entrusting developers to deliver the envisaged development. In short, the awards will make its mark in validating the companies as reputable and that their development projects are of sound quality.

SMG group chief executive officer Alex Yeow said that with both StarProperty and FIABCI Malaysia joining forces, the MDA is set to be the penultimate awards programme aimed at elevating the standards of Malaysian developers.“When someone mentions property awards, it is a given that FIABCI Malaysia will come to mind. It gives us great pleasure to be able to work so closely with them for the Malaysia Developer Awards,” he said.SMG will lend its own expertise as well, utilising the competency and proficiency of the group’s StarProperty and StarBiz to leverage on its reach in the property landscape and ensure that the deliberations are unfettered by any prejudice or bias, he said.

“The FIABCI Malaysia-Star partnership will only grow stronger with time, thanks to both parties’ strong foundation,” he added.

The MDA also aim to encourage developers to reach for greater innovation and performance amid the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. With FIABCI Malaysia awarding merits to exemplary development projects for over 30 years, FIABCI Malaysia president Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang said he believes it is time to also recognise the nation builders who have been working hard to outperform their peers in crafting more innovative masterpieces.

“Development projects are like art pieces. Without the artists, never will we live to see such beautiful and astonishing projects – they should be appreciated too!

“Now it’s time we embarked on another new award in the form of the MDA,” he added.

To ensure that the awards are presented to the best of the best, the judging process is stringent, complying with international standards. The MDA is divided into two main categories – Top-of-the-Chart Awards and Special Awards, which consist of three sub-categories, namely The International Award, Transformation Award and Rising Star Award.
