Cops raid two entertainment outlets in KL, issue over RM70,000 in compounds for SOP violations

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance checks led to over RM70,000 in compounds issued after police raided two entertainment outlets.

City Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Azman Ayob, in a statement on Saturday (Feb 5) said that the raids on Friday (Feb 4) night saw 75 customers and two premise owners fined for flouting Covid-19 SOPs.

"Both premise owners were issued compounds of RM1,000 each. A total of 75 customers from both premises were also issued compounds of the same amount each," he said.

In a related matter, SAC Azman said that the police had issued 238 compounds for failing to comply to Covid-19 SOPs from Jan 1 until now.

"Operations such as these will be increased from time to time as part of our effort to assist the government in controlling the spread of infection," he said.
