Egg shortage due to stock delay, longer holidays, says ministry

PUTRAJAYA: The sharp increase in purchases of eggs before, during and after the 2022 Chinese New Year holidays contributed to the current shortage, says Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement director Azman Adam.

He said in a statement that the shortage was also due to chicken and egg farms as well as delivery companies not operating during the Chinese New Year holiday period, while some even took holidays longer than the two days in conjunction with the festival.
