JOHOR BARU: Umno will campaign alongside MCA in Johor Jaya to ensure the coalition’s candidate wins the seat in the coming state election, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The Umno vice-president expressed his confidence that MCA would be able to win back the hearts of the Chinese voters and wrest the seat from DAP.
“I call upon each and every one of us to continue to give our best and ensure victory for Barisan Nasional in Permas and Johor Jaya, which are under the Pasir Gudang parliamentary seat.
“As part of the Barisan family, I believe that MCA would be able to wrest the Johor Jaya state seat.
“We will not leave MCA to fight on its own.
“Each party member will be mobilised to help the party in Johor Jaya,” he said in a statement.
Khaled urged Chinese voters who were frustrated with the poor performance of Pakatan Harapan’s government during their 22-month reign to return to the Barisan fold.
“We have a proven track record with the right formula to manage a multicultural state and country,” Khaled said, adding that he would personally oversee the MCA’s machinery preparations and readiness.
On Jan 21, Khaled, who is also Pasir Gudang Umno division chief, said as an experienced and tested party, Barisan had a track record in managing Malaysia and maintaining stability and prosperity.
The former Johor mentri besar said it was very important for Barisan to get back the mandate of the people.
