GEORGE TOWN: The police have detained 334 people and seized various drugs worth RM2.07mil in an operation from Jan 21-23 here.
Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the suspects, aged from 15 to 61, were arrested in four raids in Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam.
“We also seized 11 vehicles, jewellery and cash worth RM1,328,705,” said Mohd Shuhaily at a press conference at the Penang police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (Jan 26).
“All those arrested are currently under remand to assist police investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Mohd Shuhaily also said the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) have arrested two policemen aged 31 and 33 on Monday and Tuesday after urine tests on them were positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
“Checks showed they had previous drug-related offences and had been detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
