PETALING JAYA: There is no need for an official explanation on Kuala Nerus MP Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali's removal from the PAS central committee, says party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Sinar Harian quoted Abdul Hadi as saying that the removal of Mohd Khairuddin was for disciplinary reasons and the majority of PAS members supported the decision even if some leaders wanted an explanation.
"Up till now, I have received feedback that 99.9% of our grassroots are pleased with this decision," he said after delivering the weekly sermon at Rusila mosque in Terengganu on Friday (Jan 21).
He added that several measures were taken such as advising Mohd Khairuddin before making the decision to drop him.
Abdul Hadi did not, however, disclose what disciplinary issues led to the removal of the former plantation industries and commodities minister from the committee.
"We will evaluate the need for his replacement from time to time.
"As of now, work within the party is still progressing smoothly," he said.
He also stressed the removal would not result in a split within the party.
"There is no divide as we have experienced much greater (trials) than this," he said in reference to the formation of Parti Amanah Negara in 2015 and the Kelantan crises in 1979.
