SIBU: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and the General Operations Force have rescued 50 birdcages of 61 various types of birds such as Murai Kampung, Murai Batu and Serindit love birds in Bau on Jan 19.
SFC in a statement said these birds were being kept as pets in a house.
"All species are suspected to be protected species, and the owner failed to show any valid permit or license issued by the Controller of Wild Life," it said.
The birds will be transferred to Matang Wildlife Centre for further action.
SFC urged members of the public to lodge a report if they spotted anyone keeping or selling protected wildlife.
