Several areas in Ipoh hit by floods after heavy rain

IPOH: A downpour has caused flash floods in several areas here.

Due to the continuous rain and strong winds since 6pm that lasted until 9pm, the water level at several housing areas has risen to waist high.

Among the affected areas were Taman Kinta Emas, Kg Tasek, Taman Desa Impian, Persiaran Tasek Timur, Taman Seri Gaya, Kg Sg Rokam, Kg Baru, Pekeliling Ampang Baru, Jalan Ampang Baru 2, Taman Mewah Flats and Taman Cempaka.

Rescue teams from the police, Fire and Rescue Department, and Rela were on the ground for rescue and monitoring purposes.

At press time, the rescue team was still carrying out evacuation, and bringing affected residents to safety.
