IPOH: Pasir Bedamar assemblyman Terence Naidu’s claims that his drink was spiked is being investigated, says Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director said anyone could make such claims, and thus an investigation on the matter is being conducted.
“We are in the midst of preparing our full report, and samples taken from all involved have been sent to the pathologist as well.
“The full investigation papers will be handed over to the prosecution’s office for further action once we get all the related reports in hand,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
Naidu was arrested along with 47 others, including two policemen, on Jan 13 at a nightclub in Prai in Penang. Of that, 36 tested positive for drug use.
He is being investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
However, the two-term DAP assemblyman claimed that his drink might have been spiked.
He said he did not take any illegal substance and was shocked when told that his urine tested positive, because he does not even smoke.
Naidu, on being released on Jan 14, lodged a police report stating he was exposed to suspicious elements and named an eyewitness to the act.
