GOF nabs two foreign nationals for selling untaxed liquour


PASIR GUDANG: The General Operations Force (GOF) have arrested two foreign men for possessing and selling untaxed liquor at premises in Taman Cendana here.

GOF Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said that the suspects are aged between 25 and 32 years old and were arrested during a raid on Friday (Jan 14) at about 7.40pm.

"Our investigations under ‘Ops Kontraban’ have led to the arrest of the two Nepali men who had been using the premises as a store to sell untaxed liquor to other foreign customers.

"We also confiscated 12 boxes of liquor inside the premises that are worth around RM11,992, including tax," he said in a statement here Sunday (Jan 16).

He added that the suspects were living at the premises and have been running their operation for the past three months.

Supt Dimin added that investigations are ongoing to find out where the suspects get their supplies from.

The case is being investigated under Section 135(1) of the Customs Act 1967 for the possession of illegal goods.
