PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has asked for Georgia's support in its bid for re-election to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council for a sixth term, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister also said Malaysia would continue to support ICAO's initiatives to promote security, safety, efficiency, environment protection and rule of law in international civil aviation.
Dr Wee had received a courtesy call from Georgia's ambbasador to Malaysia Nikoloz Apkhazava at his office in Putrajaya on Monday (Jan 10).
"We discussed the mutual recognition of certificates pursuant to Regulation I/10 of the International Convention on Standards, Training, Certificationa dn Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978," the MCA president said in a Facebook post Monday.
Dr Wee also conveyed his appreciation to the Georgian government for its support during the election at the 32nd session of the International Maritime Organisation general assembly, where Malaysia was re-elected as a Category C council member for the 2022-2023 biennium.
