Dr M recuperating well and in high spirits

PETALING JAYA: The elective medical procedure on Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was a success and he is currently recuperating well, says the National Heart Institute (IJN).

IJN said the former prime minister is expected to be discharged within the next few days based on his current clinical progress.

“A team of doctors from IJN and Universiti Malaya Medical Centre carried out the procedure which was uneventful and went as planned.

“Tun Dr Mahathir is currently recuperating well.

“He is fully awake and in high spirits,” it said in a statement yesterday.

Dr Mahathir, 96, was admitted to IJN for a full check-up on Dec 16.

He was discharged a week later after undergoing medical investigations before the elective medical procedure was carried out on Saturday.
