Former Warisan reps no show at meeting with Sabah STAR, Kitingan wants another arranged

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah STAR hopes to set up another meeting with two former Warisan assemblymen after an earlier planned meet-up did not happen.

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said Melalap assemblyman Datuk Peter Anthony, and Limbahu assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim did not turn up at the planned meeting in Sook, which is in Keningau in the interior of Sabah, on Thursday (Dec 30).

"I was informed that they had other urgent matters to attend to at the last minute," he said when contacted Saturday (Jan 1).

However, the Deputy Chief Minister said they hoped to hold another meeting with the two soon.

As for whether there would be top party positions or other forms of enticement offered for Peter and Juil to join Sabah STAR, Kitingan said this was not something that he can decide alone.

He said anything with regard to such matters must be discussed thoroughly with their party members first.

The planned meeting on Dec 30 was set up by a third party, and Kitingan had hoped to talk the two former Warisan leaders out of forming a new party.

Peter and Juil quit Warisan on Tuesday (Dec 28) and announced that they were planning to form a new party and join Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), led by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Kitingan had said that it was better for them to join Sabah STAR than to form a new party as Sabah already had too many parties.
