Floods: 399 police officers, personnel assigned to Hulu Langat flood tactical base for various operations


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 399 police officers and personnel are assigned to the Hulu Langat flood tactical base (Martak) for flood relief operations.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Kasuahdi Ali said those deployed at the tactical base comprised officers and personnel from various divisions, including the General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit.

"The base was established on Dec 21 to ensure the flood victims in Hulu Langat receive the necessary aid and assistance. Various agencies also operated from the base, including the Fire and Rescue Department, the Armed Forces as well as NGOs," he said when contacted on Monday (Dec 27).

DCP Kasuahdi said various flood relief operations have been conducted since the beginning of the floods, including saving flood victims and those trapped in landslides.

"Officers and personnel were also deployed for post-flood operations which focused on clean-up in Hulu Langat and Shah Alam," he said

"A total of 10 clean-up operations have been conducted at several villages and mosques in Hulu Langat and Shah Alam," added DCP Kasuahdi.

He also said that the police are also instrumental in supplying clean water to flood-hit areas including at Sungai Lui and Taman Desa Kerinci.

"Since the beginning of the floods, we have also deployed 79 vehicles for various operations. The men and women of the police force have been working tirelessly to assist flood victims," he said

"We are committed towards ensuring the safety and security of everyone who is affected by the floods," added DCP Kasuahdi.
