KUALA LUMPUR: No evidence of soil movement at the Sri Duta 1 apartment in Taman Duta has been detected so far, say police.

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said that after City Hall (DBKL) evacuated eight households there last Sunday (Dec 19), they have been monitoring the situation closely.

"As of now, contractors are performing works to strengthen the foundation. Monitoring works are conducted by DBKL every day to survey water and land movement.

"Up till now, no land movement has been detected," he said when contacted on Sunday (Dec 26).

He added that the area was deemed unsafe by the Public Works Departments (JKR), and that no injuries have been reported.

According to news portal Majoriti, photos of the apartment have been circulating on social media, with many people online concerned for the safety of its occupants.

The photos show the apartment next to an area that had been affected by landslides.
