RM332.5bil Budget 2022 passed in Dewan Rakyat


KUALA LUMPUR: Budget 2022 - the largest in the nation's history to date - was passed in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Dec 13).

The RM332.5bil Budget was passed through a voice vote after it was tabled and read for the third time by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

More than 100 MPs participated in 24 days of debates with replies coming from 27 ministries including those under the Prime Minister's Department.

Of the total, RM236.5bil will be channeled to operating expenditures, RM69bil to development expenditures and RM17bil to the Covid-19 Fund.

The budget was tabled by Zafrul on Oct 29 for its first reading.

It was the first budget since the Perikatan Nasional administration came into power in August of this year.
