GPS’ Piasau candidate uses his ‘me time’ to engage voters on social media

MIRI: Taking daily morning walks is a routine for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) Piasau candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting (pic), who aside from making an initiative to keep himself fit, is using this “me time” to engage with his voters via social media.

Since physical form of campaigning is barred in urban constituencies such as Piasau, Ting has been interacting with his voters by doing “live” Facebook updates, including during his walks.

The 66-year-old said his morning exercise routine is a good opportunity for him to get close to the local community.

“To get connected to the people in Miri, I will go for a walk for 40 minutes in the mornings and while doing so, I will do a live stream on my Facebook.

“I will respond to questions and chat with those who are watching,” he said on Wednesday (Dec 8).

Ting, who is Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) secretary-general, said his plan is to continue bringing development to Piasau and to fight for education opportunities for children.

Improving family health and to provide affordable housing would also continue to be his priority.

Ting is facing a five-cornered fight with Parti Sarawak Bersatu candidate Teo Jia Jun, Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party’s Hanim Jaree; Chung Siew Yen of Parti Bumi Kenyalang and Peter Hee of DAP.
