Body of drowned three-year-old recovered from Johor river


JOHOR BARU: The body of a child, believed to be three years old, was found in a river near Jalan Anggerik Putih Majidee, Sungai Kampung Desa Makmur, here.

Tebrau Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Khairul Azhar Abd Aziz said that they received a distress call at 10.43am on Saturday (Dec 4).

"The body was found about five feet from the riverbank.

"Six personnel were deployed to the scene. The body has been handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Johor Baru South OCPD ACP Raub Selamat confirmed that a report was lodged and the investigation is ongoing.

"We are still investigating the child's race and gender," he said.
