Three youths killed in highway accident

SEREMBAN: Three youths were killed in an accident involving two cars at KM268 of the North-South Expressway near Bandar Ainsdale.

Seremban deputy police chief Supt Mohd Rosli Ishak said all three, aged 20, were killed on the spot in the 2.35am incident yesterday.

The deceased were identified as R. Thesigan, S. Gopinath and N. Prem.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident happened when the 18-year-old driver of a Honda Accord lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the guardrail.

“The vehicle then spun and crashed into a Perodua Bezza which was being driven by a 20-year-old youth in the left lane of the highway,” he said, adding that both vehicles were heading towards Nilai.

One of the deceased was the front passenger of the Accord while two others were travelling in the Bezza.

The drivers of both cars and a passenger seated in the back seat of the Honda suffered injuries and were sent to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
