GEORGE TOWN: Why the silence over the Penang government's move to spend RM5mil for a makeover of its state exco offices at Komtar here, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng asks DAP's Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming.

The Penang MCA chairman said Nga had earlier slammed the Federal Government’s RM4mil expenditure to repair the offices of 14 Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

"Nga had earlier labelled it as ‘wastage’. He needs to explain his double standards.

"Why did he not say anything when the DAP-led government in Penang spent close to RM5mil to refurbish its exco offices, along with spending half a million ringgit to purchase a Mercedes-Benz S560e luxury hybrid saloon?" the MCA vice-president asked.

Tan said such double standards should be called out.

"In this case, the MP has to explain why he maintained a dignified silence on the matter," he added.
