Elderly man's body found floating under bridge

JOHOR BARU: The body of an elderly man was found floating under a bridge near Jalan Dato Onn, Bandar Johor Baru here on Thursday (Nov 4).

Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operations commander senior officer Haizrul Rahmad said that the department received a call on the case at 11.57pm on Thursday.

“The body was floating about 5m under a bridge and the rescue team used a rope to bring the body up.

“No identification documents were found on the body and it has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement here on Friday (Nov 5).

He added that a total of seven personnel were deployed to the scene along with one fire truck.

Meanwhile, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat had confirmed the report over the case and said that investigations are still ongoing.

“The identity of the victim is still being investigated and we are still waiting for the post mortem report. The body was found by people who were fishing near Pantai Lido,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).
