KLANG: A foreigner was arrested by the police in Pandamaran here on Monday (Oct 25) with smuggled alcoholic beverages worth about RM943,000 in several vans.

Marine Police Region 1 commander Asst Comm Mohd Shamsol Kassim said the 29-year-old man was detained during Ops Contraband at about 3pm.

"The suspect had parked several vans in the housing area where he stored the smuggled goods.

We raided the location and managed to detain the suspect," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 26).

He added that the alcoholic drinks were found in five of the six vans seized.

"The suspect did not have any identification documents but we believe he is an Indian national. We seized the vans along with the 4,125 alcoholic beverages," he said.

ACP Mohd Shamsol said that the police will now work on uncovering the syndicate behind the smuggling.
