Comms Ministry resolving poor Internet access in Perlis village, says Annuar

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Internet coverage issues experienced by Kampung Seri Kesinai residents in Padang Besar, Perlis are caused by the terrain and tall trees in the area, says Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic).

In a tweet, he said the issue was identified after the Communications and Multimedia Ministry conducted an investigation through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) during a visit to the area on Oct 21.

Following this finding, Annuar said the ministry would begin optimisation work on a nearby telecommunications tower on Tuesday (Oct 26) as one measure to solve the problem.

The work is expected to be completed on Nov 8, he added.

“The Kg Baharu tower has been upgraded to improve the quality of 4G, and the new tower in Sg Chuchuh has also started operating, providing better services and benefits for residents in Sungai Chuchuh Unicity and surrounding areas,” he said on Monday (Oct 25).

Recently, the media reported on the frustration of parents over internet access, especially in the rural areas of the state, which caused their children's home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) sessions to be disrupted. – Bernama
