PM's special 3pm announcement, interstate travel anticipated

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will deliver a special address at 3pm on Sunday (Oct 10).

It is believed that the special address will be related to interstate travel, which has been put on hold following a spike in Covid-19 cases.

The ban on interstate travel was briefly lifted last year, but was reimplemented in January this year following a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The special address will be broadcasted on RTM and other major television channels as well as Facebook live.

Based on the Health Ministry data on the CovidNow portal on Sunday (Oct 10), a total of 21,003,074 individuals or 89.7% of the adult population in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination, just 0.3 percentage points short of the targeted 90%.

On Sept 22, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said interstate travel would resume when 90% of the adult population in Malaysia have been fully vaccinated.
