No agreement among 11 Melaka assemblymen to seek audience with King, says Kota Laksamana rep

MELAKA: There is no agreement among the 11 opposition Melaka assemblymen to seek an audience with the King on Thursday (Oct 7), says Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong.

Low said he checked with Melaka Pakatan chief Adly Zahari at midnight and added that he got confirmation that the 11 Opposition lawmakers are not part of the entourage to Istana Negara.

This comes after Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Norhizam Hassan Baktee said the decision to travel was reached after Yang-di Pertua Melaka Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam refused an audience with the 15 and dissolved the state legislative assembly.

Dr Mohd Ali is currently undergoing self-quarantine for two weeks starting Sept 30, following close contact with Covid-19 positive individuals.

Norhizam then said that the 15 - 11 opposition assemblymen and four who had recently defected from the Perikatan Nasional state government - would be heading to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“All 15 of us will travel in a bus to Istana Negara on Thursday if we are granted an audience,” he said on Wednesday (Oct 6).

Norhizam withdrew his support for Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as the Chief Minister on Monday (Oct 4).

Along with Norhizam, three other assemblymen also withdrew their support;Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan and Telok Mas assemblyman, Noor Effandi Ahmad.
